First thing I have to say is, well done to Neil Crumpton for getting organised and booking a camping plot for Edubs. Without this, I doubt many of us would have met at BVF. Hopefully this is just the start of things to come. Also I have to thank my local VW owners club, Bath Air-Cooled for sorting out the barbeque on Saturday, although we did need Oliver's help towards the end with his super stove, as my barby ran out of steam, mainly because I was paying more attention to my can of Stella than the barbeque, Oops!
Also, if I get anyone's names wrong or have forgotten them completely, I'm sorry, I'm rushing this page out so that other Edubs members can see what we got up to at the weekend. I had a brilliant time, and would love to meet up again, Bug Jam maybe? Anyway, if I forgot your name, or got it wrong, mail me, Dale Simpkins, and I'll sort it out. If you look at the next picture, you'll see why I'm not quite with it. Luckily I dodged most of Damon's Demonic Drink (DDD), aka Thatchers cider, or things could have been much worse.

Rudely awoken first thing Sunday morning by Club GTi Worcestershire. Lots of Golf's, Corrado's, etc, huge stereos, engines, loud noise, me asleep in tent with nice new toasty sleeping bag (bought the day before), NOT IMPRESSED. Need Caffiene, too bright, bad hair day (as always), and I've got sunburn, bugger off!

Rosey and I arrived at BVF early Friday evening, we spent half an hour trying to find the Edubs/Bath Air-Cooled camping plot, asked one of the organisers who kindly pointed out that we were standing next to it, Doh! Anyway we get out of Bea, and hear shouting from behind us, turn round and we see this big hat running towards us, "Dr.Livingstone I presume", no, Oliver you dufus! Anyway here's him and his hat in all it's glory with Daisy the camper in the background, and his barbeque/stove type contraption of much warmness on a cold Friday evening. Why is it always freezing on Friday night at BVF.
Next Edubber we met was Neil Crumpton. Here he is supping down some lager at the barbeque. Neil had the old stereo from his Beetle for sale at BVF, managed to get a quid for it (sold to some autojumbler), even though it came with part of the dashboard. Then somebody bought it from the autojumble for 2.50, justified it by saying that at least it was in better nick than the stereo they already had! Thanks once again Neil for getting things sorted.

Here's Lee Griffiths (left) and Damon Green (right) supping on some Thatchers. Lee obviously thinks it's a bit weak (little does he know), 'cos he's got a can of Scrumpy Jack as well! Lee's trying to show off a temporary tattoo but the picture isn't good enough for you to see it. Damon's wearing his FAT Performance T-Shirt. Perhaps I should get one, but with the logo across my belly! The Beetle in the background is Damon's. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the young woman with Lee, inbetween Lee and Damon (Sorry, hopefully you can remind me Lee), but I can remember that she has excellent taste, and wants to buy a Land Rover, see I'm not mad, Volkswagens and Land Rover's go hand in hand, and just to prove it, here's a car belonging to one of show's officials. What is it, a brand new Land Rover Freelander, and there were at least two Series III landies as well. Shutup Dale you saddo, no one wants to know!

Barbeque's starting to get into full swing, here's a whole bunch of people, from left to right. Trev (Oliver's brother in law), Clare (Oliver's partner), Oliver (minus hat), Helen (Neil's girlfiend), Neil, and Rosey. I think I got everyone's names right, if not I'll be wearing me asbestos suit. Oi! Damon, your cars in the background again, that was a bit of sneaky parking :-)

Just to show it wasn't all just Edubbers at the Barbeque, here's a couple of people from Bath Air-cooled. Kerry (who had the blue light nicked off his fire engine, Grrrr!), his friend Ben and Rosey. Rosey's on Bud at this point, not wanting to commit herself, she's drinking anything offered, Bud, Thatcher's, Stella, Alan's rocket fuel home brew. See the little Goblin......

This is Rosey's brother Martyn. Here he is all bright eyed and bushy tailed even though he got up at 5am and drove up to Malvern from Portsmouth, Git! (another reason for being up at 8am Sunday) Lovely hat by the way.
Next up, I thought I'd snap as many vehicles belonging to Edubs people as I could. First up, here's Bea (Rosey's Bug) on the left, with her brother Martyn's Bug. This is the first time the two cars have been snapped together, mainly 'cos Bea's been off the road for so long.

Followed by Neil's Yellow Golf, and Oliver's van Daisy. The cupboards in Daisy are well smart, being a cabinet maker as well as a LLB comes in handy I suppose.

Here's Damons Beetle on the concours, he won best paint in his class (think I got that right), very tidy motor. The black bug next to his belongs to his friend Jamie. Car was a bit dusty, Jamie had a slight problem cleaning his car that morning, unfortunately it was a Thatchers induced problem!

Also on the concours was Lee Griffith's single cab. I originally thought the top half was black, but when you get real close, you realise it's chestnut brown. Lee's also got some sort of E-Z shifter gear change type thing on the end of the gear stick which comes out at an angle and has a T-shaped handle on the end, looks the business. Can't remember what engine he's running, but judging by the fact it's been lowered a fraction, I'm guessing it's not standard!

Last up, this Caddy pickup belongs to a chap called Chris in Bath Air-cooled. Picked up two engines for himself, and one for a friend of ours, Jeff. One 1300TP, and 1200SP, and a 1500SP for Jeff. 70 quid the lot, two of them were runners as well, not bad I thought. There was a lot to be had at the autojumble, I saw all sorts of EMPI parts, including a pair of Lee eliminator tail pipes, various gauges, locking wheel bolt kits, steering wheels, etc. I also saw a Deano Dynosaurs Manifold which went with a holly carb setup. I've never seen stuff like this offered at a UK show before, and I thought the prices weren't too bad. I don't know, my impression of the show season so far is that there seems to be a influx of 'new' stuff coming in from various sources. At BVF there were a few autojumblers from Germany and Holland who seemed to have stuff for sale you don't normally see in the UK. Keep it up I say.
