This part of my world is a little homage to a car I feel is underated in today's modern society. It's the Austin Rover Maestro, which first appeared on the scene around 1982. Boasting a state of the art electronic management system (which packed up on mine) and the being the U.K's first talking car, the Maestro had a lot to live up to.
The car in the photo actually belongs to my friend Tim who has tweaked this particular Maestro slightly. Instead of the usual 1.3 or 1.6 Litre engine, this one has a 2.0 Litre turbo charged engine from a Rover. Needless to say it goes a bit!
The reason I've included Maestro's in my world is that a Maestro was the first car I ever owned. Price was the dictating factor in it's purchase due to the discount I received from it's previous owners, thanks Mum & Dad! Although it wasn't my first choice in motoring, my old Maestro proved to be a sturdy reliable car, in fact the family owned it for over 12 years and 130,000 miles in the end. It might not be the prettiest, or the fastest car on the road, but you could do a lot worse! You could own a Japanese 4x4, Yuk!
